All along the promenade you’ll find equipped beach resorts, lively night spots and restaurants offering culinary delights, making it the vibrant heart of summer life and beyond. This scenic route connects the tourist harbor area to Porto d’Ascoli, offering ever-changing views.

Monumento al gabbiano Jonathan
Jonathan Seagull Monument

At the end of the South Pier, almost reaching out toward the infinite horizon of the open sea, stands a sculpture that immediately catches the eye: the Jonathan Livingston Seagull Monument. Inspired by the famous novel by Richard Bach, this monument is a powerful symbol of freedom, the innate desire to push one's limits, and the inseparable bond between the town and its sea.

It’s a beloved panoramic spot, especially at sunset, when the sky is painted with warm, enveloping colors, and marks the beginning (or end) of the open-air Art Museum on the Sea trail.

Monumento al Pescatore
The Fisherman’s Monument

San Benedetto del Tronto is deeply rooted in a proud seafaring and fishing tradition that has shaped its history and identity. The Fisherman’s Monument, located in the port area near the fish market, is a heartfelt tribute to this heritage. The sculpture depicts the effort and dignity of the men of the sea—central figures in the town’s identity and economy.

Take a moment to observe the monument closely: it tells stories—without words—of dawn departures, nets cast and hauled in, and lives spent in deep connection with the Adriatic. This tradition of authentic flavors can also be found in our restaurant, where local cuisine is celebrated with passion.

Museo d'arte sul mare
Art Museum on the Sea

The Art Museum on the Sea (MAM) in San Benedetto del Tronto is a permanent open-air exhibition stretching over a kilometer along the city’s south pier. It features works by international artists created during the “Scultura e Pittura Viva” Symposium, along with installations by artists such as Mario Lupo, Marcello Sgattoni, Genti Tavanxhiu, and Giuseppe Straccia.

Among the most well-known pieces is the bronze monument dedicated to Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Mario Lupo, symbolizing freedom and inner growth. Equally striking is Tavanxhiu’s travertine boat, dedicated to Mons. Sciocchetti, pioneer of mechanical fishing.

Straccia’s sculpture is also evocative: a Madonna on the rocks with a nativity scene visible in the water, in memory of those lost at sea. The trail is completed by an artistic fountain by Sgattoni and numerous sculptures that blend harmoniously with the marine environment. The MAM is one of a kind, uniting art, memory, and landscape.

Torre dei Gualtieri
Gualtieri Tower

To discover the historical heart of San Benedetto del Tronto, head up to the “Paese Alto,” the town’s oldest district. Here stands the majestic Gualtieri Tower, a medieval watchtower with its distinctive hexagonal shape and a clock that marks time—an unmistakable symbol of the town’s ancient part.

From its top (when open to the public), you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view stretching from the picturesque rooftops of the old village to the shimmering sea and the gentle surrounding hills. A visit to the Tower and a stroll through the narrow winding streets of Paese Alto will allow you to discover a different and fascinating side of San Benedetto, rich in history and charm.
